Day1
Smooth sailing thru two airports and two
customs. Walked thru the village of Bonfil where we will play twice and have
camps passing out flyers and balls . We were greeted with smiles and high
fives. Took in a local game where they announced us playing, then lunch at an
outdoor quesidilla place. Evening at pro game throwing stress balls and it was
announced about our game. Mr. Mike treated us to an amazing dinner at the
Brazilian steak house.. I think the boys ate an entire cow.. Ridgeway, Wallace
& Welborn ate parts that we didn't even know were edible... Lots of
laughs and fellowship... Devotion on Isaiah 6:1-8.... Great day
Day 2
Amazing day today and we
didn't even get to play baseball reminding us why we are here. Rain forced us
to cancel the game today and rescheduled it for Wednesday night. We started at
a private school talking with about 100 kids and sharing our faith then later
in the day we had our first camp. About 100 kids turned out and we taught them
baseball and shared the Gospel. The day ended in an amazing way , we walked
thru the dirt streets of this village inviting them to the park. 150 kids later
we had the biggest game of wiffle ball ever and while we played the local
pastor shared the Gospel with the people in the stands.. Now 7 more people will
be in heaven with us... Devotions tonight allowed the kids to reflect on the
poverty they saw and they were humbled...
Day 3
Camp with about 50 kids then game time.
Close game going into top of 5th with solid pitching from Kyle Lorow but down 2-1. Top of 5 we loaded the bases and Wes Harvey cleared the bases with a triple. Byrom Ferrel executed a perfect squeeze play, then Alex Hand hit a solo HR to give B4C a 6-2 lead. They answered with 6 runs in the bottom of the 5th to retake the lead off Wes Harvey and Josh Wallace. B4C scored 2 in the top of the 6th to tie and Wallace shut them down in the bottom. Top of 7 Ferrel singled in Lewis to take the lead 9-8 and Wally again silenced them in the bottom.. Baseball 4 Christ wins opener9-8 Highlight of the day.. A player who was on the other team gave his life to Christ that morning at camp.. That's why we are here;)
Day 4
Playing in the pro stadium against the Cancun National team with Kevin Werner on the mound. Top of 1st back to back doubles by Alex Hand and Josh Wallace gets B4C on the board 1-0. No scoring in the bottom of 1st thru bottom of 4 as Werner allowed only 1 base runner on a walk and striking out 8 thru 4. Top of 5th after a couple wild pitches and walks the bats explode for 7 runs with key hits by Ferrel & Lewis. Bottom of 5 Brad Swinney 2 Web Gems.. No scoring in the 6th. Top of 7th Swinney hits a bases loaded triple to make the lead 11-0.. Werner closes them down in the 7th and pitches a no hitter on his birthday.. Great scene as the players pray at the pitching mound. Earlier in the day the players walked thru the poverty squatters village and passed out Bibles and T-shirts .. Every one was blessed.
Day 5
Playing back at the village of Bonfil starting Brad Swinney on the mound B4C jumped out to a 5-0 lead and never looked back. Big hits by Werner and Lorow with triples and some web gems by Wallace at 3B allowed B4C to go 3-0 with a 12-5 win. Swinney gets the win with Wallace coming in relief and Ridgeway getting the save. Then what an amazing finish to the day as 4 kids at camp prayed to receive Christ.. And it didn't stop at that ... After baptizing Byrom, Hunter & Joe felt led to be obedient as well and they too were baptized on the roof of the mission house.. Kinda overwhelming..
